Spice Girls New Video Drops - Is It Hot?

The Spice Girls have finally released their new video for the track called "Headlines"(Friendship Never Ends) which was launched last week. And it's...well, I know "boring" is a strong word, but I can't think of a better way to describe it without going into too many details. You can watch it below, and make up your own minds about it, but as far as I'm concerned, it might just as well have been a run down the catwalk or a magazine spread, the idea is the same: make as much fuss about each of the girls, show them wearing some ultra-glamorous or teasing, sexy outfits and as an afterthought, have them sing. One thing about this video that becomes evident in the first 30 seconds is that it's pretty much centered on the visual side rather than on the acoustic one. And yes, the rumors are true: I've watched it twice (almost fell asleep halfway through watching it the third time) and I still can't see or hear Victoria singing on her own, so maybe you'll be luckier and let me know when her solo comes up. Other than that, it's pretty much standard Spice Girls routine, with Mel C. taking over the hardest vocals and the entire group posing and smiling for the camera.
It's pretty mean of me to call it "fake", but again I fail to grasp a more appropriate term. If the lyrics to the song are any guide (and I think they should be), I think they could have made the whole thing into a much more relevant story rather than trying to show everybody just how glamorous the girls are. We all know the stories behind each of their picture-perfect looks, all about the weight problems, the tantrums, the pimples, the fights and so on, and since the whole Spice Girl return phenomenon has been so much in the news lately, I think they could have gone for a more dynamic video to re-establish them less as glamour girls and more as the energetic band that once rocked our worlds and changed the music world forever. It's just one of those videos that says nothing but manages to be slightly bizarre – I for one don't know what to make of Victoria stroking Geri's hair, for instance. But the girls look good, Geri's abs are not saggy anymore, Posh still pouts and looks like a plastic robot, Mel C is pimple-free, Emma's all smiles and Mel B. cuts a true lady figure in her flowing green gown.
