Runaway Bride Strikes Again
11 October, 2006
Not many may remember that, in 2005, a woman named Jennifer Wilbanks saw herself catapulted to instant fame and tons of free publicity as she disappeared four days before her lavish wedding. After sending out invitations to 600 guests, buying gowns for her 14 bridesmaids and throwing seven showers before the actual ceremony, the bride vanished within four days prior to the big event. She was later found in New Mexico, telling the police officers that she had been abducted and sexually assaulted, and then safely returned to her fiancé's forgiving arms. As a proof that loves conquers everything, John Mason also forgave Jennifer when she told the truth about her disappearance: she wasn't abducted, she just fled because she didn't want to get married. Yes, love does conquer all obstacles... except for the one represented by $500,000 because that's the exact amount of money that the two lovers got for their story from a New York publishing house. Jennifer and Mason eventually broke up for good last May and now she is dragging him to court.
Wildbanks is seeking $250,000 as her fair share of the money for the rights to her life's story and another $250,000 in punitive damages. Who said you can't get the satisfaction of a divorce battle without even walking down the aisle? Posted by admin at 08:06 PM | View: (247)
