U2 Joins Green Day for Charity
12 September, 2006
U2 is a band very well known for its members' involvement in many aspects of life, other than those that most of the musicians care for. Of all, Bono is probably the most famous for taking an active part in many charitable organizations and environmental actions. Now, U2 will join forces with another rock band, Green Day, and record a cover song. The two rock sensations will do the cover of a minor 1978 hit, 'The Saints Are Coming', originally performed by The Skids. The money that will be raised by means of this track will go directly to The Edge's charitable organization, Music Rising. It aims at replacing musical instruments that were destroyed in Hurricane Katrina. The idea of a collaboration between the two bands came from U2, whose manager contacted the one from Green Day. Useless to say, the members of the latter immediately jumped at the opportunity, being for such a noble cause.
'New Orleans has always been a special city to us, being a hotbed of music and creativity, and it's hard to believe parts of the Gulf region still remain devastated. We feel that it's important to continue to raise awareness', a statement coming from the members of Green Day read. http://news.softpedia.com/news/U2-Joins-Green-Day-for-Charity-35226.shtml Posted by admin at 10:13 AM | View: (544)
